Top 10 Pieces of Life Advice From Matthew McConaughey

  1. “I don’t want to just revolve. I want to evolve. As a man, as a human, as a father, as a lover.”

This truly speaks to who Matthew is as a person and how he wants the rest of the world to view their linear life. In reference to “the evolution of man”, Matthew refuses to remain unchanged by the surrounding world—he wants to be better and hopes everyone will join him in this quest. Also take note that Matthew does not believe he will ever be satisfied with his love making skills and hopes to work on those as well for the rest of his life. I think that part is truly essential.

    1. “There aren’t many things that are universally cool, and it’s cool not to litter. I’d never do it.”

Well, he said it plain and simply. Don’t litter—or you’re uncool.

    1. “Cameras aren’t guns. They can’t really hurt you.”

Matthew has truly proven himself to be a hero of words in this advice. Cameras cannot really hurt you—unless they are thrown at you. So next time you want to yell at your friend and block her on Facebook for uploading that one horrific, unflattering photo of yourself, just remember this little piece of assistance and it may help numb the pain a little bit.

    1. “I talk to myself all the time. Just make sure you answer.”

Though I believe this truly speaks for itself, just remember that it’s okay if you are a little weird. Clearly, Matthew is a straight up weirdo and yet is adored by millions of fans across the world. If you want to talk to yourself, do your thing. If you want to sing on the top of your lungs in the shower, by my guest. If you want to blast eight hours of Brazilian music while your girlfriend gives birth (yes, Matthew did that), no one is stopping you. If you are going to be weird, however, at least accept it.

    1. “The best advice comes from people who don’t give advice.”

Though we have all clearly learned a lot about both life and ourselves from reading through some of the things Matthew has said to the public, he has never advocated himself on giving anyone advice—and I surely have no idea why. So just remember, the next time someone tries to give you advice, listen to the person who is dead set on not giving you advice instead.

Keep doing you, Matt. We wouldn’t want you any other way.
